The Seafront and DFDS owned terminal KST Terminal AS in Kristiansand has decided to implement PIC.
Dan Spedition implements Third Party Service Provider module, making them new Customs Service Provider in the PIC system.
Aarhus Container Depot (ACD) implements PIC TOS system. The system includes i.a. facilities for booking, planning, monitoring, reporting, yard management and M&R estimates. PIC allows ACD to communicate with all parties in the intermodal chain of transport and to re-use information across terminals and depots.
PICit participates in the Transport & Logistikk fair at Clarion Hotel, Oslo, on 22nd and 23rd October 2012.
Together with Seamless, we will show port and terminal solutions, introduce Seamless PICmobile, and look at the interaction between transport parties.
The PICmobile application serves as a mobile interface to PIC. The Windows Phone application is also released now and ready for download at the Windows Phone Marketplace. We are confident that the apps for Android, iPhone and Windows Phone will give increased flexibility to the parties in the intermodal chain of transport; PICmobile will provide our customers with functions for tracing equipment, creating bookings, searching stock, reporting services, verifying bookings and much more.
The app is free to download and install, however, transactions and special modules are paid at ordinary rate. To find out more click here.

PICit is one of the main suppliers to Banedanmark’s newly upgraded and expanded combi terminal in Høje Taastrup, operated by DB Schenker Rail Scandinavia, which was officially opened 26 August 2011. The expansion makes the combi terminal in Høje Taastrup one of the main cargo transport hubs in the capital area with a terminal capacity of more than 3,400 TEUs. One of the main features of the new combi terminal is PICit’s high-technology SelfService Gate, accelerating gate activity, minimizing truck turnaround time and maximizing overall terminal productivity.
PIC SelfService Gate is part of the PIC TOS system which has been in operation at the combi terminals in both Høje Taastrup and Taulov since February 2004. In addition to the SelfService Gate, the new modules taken into use in Høje Taastrup include Mobile Runner, Camera and Fence Integration and Truck PC module.
PIC celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year, more precisely 3 August 2011. During this time, we have maintained focus on providing user-friendly and reliable solutions to the transport industry, allowing all parties in the chain of transport to automate tasks, manage workflows and improve productivity. It remains the only system in the market integrating all parties in a transport community network for efficient information sharing.
The first steps towards PIC were taken in 1984 when we started developing a system for managing containers at the container terminal in Aarhus, Denmark, in close cooperation with the customer and user, the stevedoring company Aarhus Stevedore Kompagni. The system was taken into use 3 August 1986.
From the very beginning, focus has been on developing an information platform where all transport information is collected and made available to the relevant parties in the chain of transport. Due to the nature of the transport industry, PIC has from day one been designed as an interactive, web-based system in order for our customers to access the system from anywhere – computers, mobiles and handheld units – providing our customers with a flexible and low-cost tool for their daily business.
Since the implementation in 1986 we have enjoyed a strong customer loyalty; we have long-term relationships with all our customers. During the years we have experienced a steady growth in the number of customers and today PIC is used at all major terminals and depots in Denmark as well as at terminals in Norway and Sweden.
The 25th anniversary will be celebrated at an informal get-together later this year.
APM Terminals – Cargo Service implements PIC at Denmark’s largest container terminal in Aarhus. APM Terminals and Cargo Service merged 31 August 2010 in a joint venture and the container terminal is among the most productive in Europe.
The implemented PIC TOS system includes i.a. facilities for booking of arrival and departure of units, gate system (incl. self-service facilities), haulier verification of bookings and pre-announce of truck calls, customs and veterinary control facilities, yard management, M&R estimates and work orders.
PIC allows the terminal to communicate with all parties in the intermodal chain of transport and to re-use information across terminals and depots. With the APM Terminals – Cargo Service terminal joining the PIC transport community network, PIC is now used at all major terminals and depots in Denmark, handling more than 1.200.000 units on a yearly basis.
InPort A/S changes its name to PICit A/S in order to communicate our products more evidently. Additionally, it is decided to sell our Swedish subsidiary InPort AB in order to increase our focus on customers and products of PICit A/S. The purchaser is the Port of Helsingborg that has acquired InPort AB on and after 1st of October 2010.
PICit A/S meets an exciting future in which operation and ongoing development of our systems still is first priority. Our customers will still experience a modern, efficient and mobile real-time system – whatever they use our PIC or GTS system.
”In connection with the sale of InPort AB, we have ensured that PIC users can book transports and services related to terminals and depots using InPort AB solutions at the beginning of 2011. This means an expansion of our OneStop Community, which precisely has as objective to make communication and cooperation more efficient between the different actors no matter their choice of system. Specifically, the expansion will make it possible for PIC users to reach an additional 20 Swedish terminals such as Helsingborg and Norrköping. The implementation towards these terminals will continually take place, which is why PIC users are welcome to contact us about this matter. It is of course still possible for PIC users to book from their own internal system, use EDI, and/or use our OneStopBooking solution for this purpose”, says Finn Nørgaard, Managing Director, PICit A/S.
InPort A/S welcomes ScandFibre Logistics AB as new customer.
InPort A/S is to deliver our Goods Transport System to ScandFibre Logistics AB. ScandFibre Logistics sees great opportunities in our system for managing activities and information in connection with transports by train. The system covers all aspects in managing activities efficiently and offers a wide range of facilities and operational features to manage units and railway wagons. The system will help ScandFibre Logistics to optimize and ensure operational procedures as a rail operator.
The cooperation has already begun and the system will be fully implemented in December 2010.
